Welcome to Uttarakhand Yuva Manch

In 1993, some young, energetic and enthusiastic youths living in and around Chandigarh but originally belonging to Uttarakhand region (Garhwal- Kumaon) of the erstwhile State of Uttar Pradesh, formed Uttarakhand Yuva Manch (UYM) and got it registered as an NGO. The aim was social interaction, preservation of folk art and culture, educational upliftment and moral support in times of need to the resident and non-resident population of Uttarakhand.

UYM got into prominence in 1994 when dozens of seriously injured rallyists of separate Uttarakhand State Movement were brought to PGI, Chandigarh, for treatment after barbaric police action against them on the midnight of Oct 1 and 2, known as infamous “Muzaffarnagar Kand”.
